Das ist die neue Generation Colby dazu, ich werde es jedoch nicht übersetzen: Colby´s Book of the American Pit Bullterrier, Seite 77 ff:
In the late 1980´s, due to several highly publicized incidents involving careless breeders and owners, the very name of the Pit Bull became synonymous with aggression, violent behaviour and untrustworthyness. How different from the Image of the breed just a few decades before. Where once the Pit Bull has been advertised and sold as a "pal of children" (and in England as the nursemaid dog), now the dogs were considered highly dangerous to children, and in some cities across America, politicians acting just as irresponsibly as the owners of the dangerous dogs responsible for human injuries and deaths, laws passed banning dogs that even looked similar to any of the bull and terrier breeds. Thousands upon thousands of kind and innocent dogs were destroyed for no other reason than their general appearance resembled that of a dog, perhaps thousands of miles away, that caused harm.
In England the Dangerous Dog Act caused the death of thousands innocent Pit Bulls, Staff Bulls, Bullterriers and crossbreeds.
What happened in England though, was that the very worst of the American lines had been imported, and these dogs where placed in the hands of anti - social hostile and often criminal people, and this soon caused very negative feelings about the breed there. Very few good Pit Bulls in responsible hands have ever been seen in England, which may account for the national ban.
The sad truth is that while most Pit Bullterriers retain their true trustworthy behaviour toward children and adults, the trend toward GAME, CALM, CONFIDENT dogshas been replaced in many circles by those seeking BARNSTORMERS or FIGHT CRAZY dogs.
These highly aggressive, hyper dogs look game to the novice, but are more often than not displaying aggression due to some inner lack of confidence. Just as the confident man doesn´t feel the need to threaten or intimidate others, the confident game dog is often the calmest and most relaxed dog.
He doesn´t percieve the as a threat and sees no reason to threaten it.
The temperament of the breed has been injured by those who would breed for flash and not depth.
Recently a "Pit Bull Expert" with a major United States humane organization stated that he Colby dogs are wimps, they are too calm and not aggressive enough.
The ignorance behind this statement is excusable when you consider that the majority of the dogs this man has seen have been bred by novices, punks and newcomers, and he is unfamiliar with the true history, temperament and nature of the Pit Bull.
Wahre Worte!
Bullyson war übrigens ein quitter! Also kein gamer Hund!
