Massenvergiftung in Ägypten muss

Herzlichen
Dank

Dear All
I have been contacted by various Egyptian Animal Welfare Charities today,
concerning a mass poisoning of
stray dogs with Strichnin, which is currently carried out by Veterinarians
of the Egyptian Governmental Organization
of Veterinary Services in the South of Sinai.
Today German divers who returned to the beach of Dahab in South Sinai found
about 50 dogs dying under
convulsions. They went into a confrontation with the local police and
veterinarians who tried to make fun
of the situation. It is well known that Strichnin is causing a prolonged
and very painful death.
Some of the dogs that have been poisoned were private dogs belonging to the
local Hotel and Restaurant owners -
but the government will not listen to the complaints of any locals.
Various Egyptian Charities have been informed and got in contact to the
Governor of South Sinai. - Only when
they mentioned the effect on tourism (the German group was appalled and is
planning to cut their holidays short)
the Governor started to care. It is only the effect on tourism and the
possible negative publicity in foreign media
that could stop this dreadful poisonings.
The Egyptian Charities are planning to hand in an official complaint and
would like to attach as many E-Mails
from foreign Charities as possible to support their claim that it has a
negative effect on tourism and could
be detrimental to the reputation of Egypt.
We would be most grateful if you could write a few lines supporting their
cause and address them to the
Ministry of Tourism (Mamdouh El Beltagi) and the Governor of South Sinai
(General Moustafa Afifi).
If you could send it to me via E-Mail I could forward your mails to the
Charities. They are trying to speak to both
of them personally before handing the complaints over.
The poisonings are going on for years now, but they are performed more and
more massively and since the tourist
season is about to come we are expecting many more operations of mass
poisonings in the days to come.
Many thanks for your support
